The Institute of History (previously known as the Institute of History and International Relations) was established in 1985. It was created by the staff of the Institute of History and Library Science of the Higher School of Pedagogy, formerly Higher School of Teacher Education. It continues the tradition of academic education in history dating back to the 1960s in Szczecin. The Institute’s staff comprises over forty academics who carry out intensive research, implement research grants and are experts in their fields.
The development of the Institute is reflected in our rich educational offer. At present we offer the following fields of study at the Bachelor’s level: archaeology, history, media and civilization, international relations, war and military studies. On the other hand second cycle studies offers studying in  the field of archaeology, history, international relations, war and military studies and national heritage manager. You can also gain a profession as an archivist in the field of media and civilisation studies.
